This in no way references the Women's World Cup match from yesterday. I was pulling for USA all the way!! So excited to see them play Japan in the finals. I played soccer for one whole year when I was like eight. But TODAY! Today is a day for France! It's Bastille Day! Basically, it's a day where I can let my francophile-self shine and people don't think it's too weird. To celebrate, I think I'll make crepes with Nutella and banana. For you all, here is a listing of some of my French-ish recipes:

Happy Valentine's Day!
Stud and I are celebrating today with our second annual Valentine's Day Asian dinner. Last year was hibachi, this year Vietnamese! I feel like any acknowledgment of the day is a great success seeing as it's Stud least favorite day and refuses to accept it as a legitimate holiday and delves into the consumerism holiday mumbo jumbo. I just like to feel appreciated every once in a while, no big deal (I know he's reading this...hint...I like presents...hint) Well, his loss, I was going to take him on a month long cruise of the Mediterranean. At least we have heart shaped cookies!
Oh and I hope you like the new look around here...a little more food oriented!

Ooooh Christmas Tree
(Stud and) I put up most of the Christmas decoations over the weekend and I love Christmas trees...the smell of the tree is probably one of my favorite Christmas things. This year we went downtown and picked our tree out, a little one that sits on the table behind out couch. Now when I watch TV, I feel like I am laying under the tree and it's amazing! Maybe I'll even do some Christmas baking this weekend...

Thanksgiving Recap!
I LOVE Thanksgiving. And my favorite part (besides all the good family time)??? It continues for days until the leftovers are gone. A sandwich with a little mayo, cranberry jelly (from a can - the best kind), gravy, turkey, and stuffing with a side of mashed potatoes. And for breakfast - try it open face with a fried egg... an amazing creation by Stud the morning after Thanksgiving. We are down to a little pie, some mashed potatoes and a few slivers of turkey. Good thing my mom is already planning another round for December for my lame brother who didn't come home this year.

Happy Memorial Day!
Ahhh Memorial Day Weekend. A lovely three day break from the ever redundant workplace and a chance for me to sleep past 6:30am! Is it weird that I long for these weekends with all of my being, despite the fact that I had a week long vacation only two week ago? I sure hope not. It will be good to break out of my schedule, spend time with friends, and welcome summer to Louisville (and summer it is - 90 and humid already).
I do have quite a few things happening this weekend. First of all, it is the traditional opening of the pool! Which means the snack bar, which means patty melts. My mom and I always split one opening weekend and since the pool had a soft opening last weekend, we were there ready to eat! They are DELICIOUS and so greasy, but oh so good. Remember how I told you I have no willpower over food? Case in point. Beef, cheese, grilled onions. Good. And I feel like my tan is fading from FL so I will probably be at the pool this weekend trying to keep up the tan.
This weekend is also a big weekend over at my parents house. Every year on Memorial Day Weekend my mom makes a gabazillion jars of her homemade strawberry jam. I am usually in charge of removing the little green parts from like four gallons of strawberries. But I usually get a jar or five, so it's all worth it. Yummm some homemade rolls with fresh strawberry jam on them...nothing better. Well, maybe a patty melt, but really they are on different playing fields.
So welcome back summertime, I have missed you!
